Marjorie Ellen Cadena (1934–2025), often called Margie, was a Webster Groves, Missouri-born educator who became a longtime San Antonio resident. A 1952 Jefferson High School graduate and a 1956 graduate of Texas Christian University (TCU) where she earned a teaching degree and was a charter member of the Tri-Delts (Go Frogs!), she married Jim Cadena after college. She taught for a couple of years before dedicating herself to her family and community, later returning to Dellview Elementary (NEISD) in 1976 for 25 years of teaching. In retirement she volunteered as a docent at the San Antonio Zoo and organized monthly lunches and an annual Dellview Christmas celebration. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2022, Margie passed away on November 20, 2025, at age 91. She is survived by four children (Mary Ellen Cadena Dunlap, Julie Cadena Delahunt, John Cadena, Nancy Cadena Williams) and five grandchildren (Travis Dunlap, Cierra Cadena Delahunt, Weston Cadena, Jess Cadena, J.R. Williams). A Celebration of Life was planned for January 19, 2026, with donations requested to SARA, the San Antonio Zoo, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
