Kevin 'Bear' Henry, a 37-year-old Indigenous two-spirit person from the Penelakut Nation, disappeared on Vancouver Island on November 27, 2021, while traveling to Fairy Creek protest camps. Their camper van became stuck on Gordon River Road northwest of Honeymoon Bay, leading to more than two months in the Caycuse/Fairy Creek area. On February 9, 2022, two Gemini logging workers found Henry on a logging road near Lake Cowichan, after which Henry walked about 15 hours to reach help and was dropped off at a Tim Hortons in Lake Cowichan.
